Dorset has the best weather and beaches in the whole of the United Kingdom. Being English myself and having traveled almost half of the world (I’m working on my target of 100 countries) I think it’s criminal to visit England and skip Dorset. Keep Reading for e 3 day itinerary in Dorset or just some inspiration for your visit.
Day 1
Wake up early and drive to Durdle Door, spend the day swimming in the beautiful turquoise water, hiking and drinking tea on the cliff tops. It’s such a huge and beautiful area that no amount of time will be long enough here.
Tip: If your going to hike up to get the view from the top (the famous view) make sure you have decent shoes, because it’s a bit steep and the grass can become slippery.
Day 2
Head to the Harbour Hotel and Spa for breakfast in the sunshine, but watch out for the naughty seagulls that will want your toast. Then go to Avon Beach to for a walk and admire the pretty beach huts. Stop for some fish and chips or a hot chocolate at the Noisy Lobster.
Later in the afternoon take the ferry over to Mudeford Key. This is a little sandbank that requires a short ferry ride to get too. The small island is full of even more cute beach huts and has a cafe that you can get a drink from and watch the sunset over the harbour. The ferry stops running at 10pm in the summer.
Day 3
Head to the Cliffhanger restaurant for breakfast overlooking the beautiful views then burn off that fried breakfast with a walk along the beach.
Afterwards head to the Harbour Hotel and Spa for a relaxing spa day. At the spa, there is an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and sun terrace. Finish your spa day with a 3pm Dorset Cream Tea before heading onto your next U.K. destination.
Where to stay:
I always stay at the Harbour Hotel and Spa when I visit Dorset. I love it, because the views are beautiful, the restaurant serves tasty food and the cocktails are great. Best of all, use of the spa is free for hotel guests.
Whether you visit Dorset for 1 day or one week, it should definitely be on your itinerary when visiting England.
